What is Meta?
On October 28 at Connect 2021, Mark Zuckerberg introduced the new concept of Meta! The use of Meta is to bring apps and companies under one big brand. Meta’s focus will be to bring augmented reality to an even more realistic level. This will help people connect, build communities and growing businesses. The metaverse will feel like the hybrid of todays social experiences, sometimes projected physically into the real world. This cracking technology will let you have mesmeric experiences with people when you can’t be together with, and do things you couldn’t do in the physical world!
What does Meta do?
VR developers, content creators, marketeers and Mark Zuckerberg himself have been discussing what Meta can do over the next decade. The professionals discussed that social connection, entertainment, gaming, work and fitness could be some of the possibilities of the metaverse! Some of the new tools to help build metaverse are the Presence Platform, which will enable new mixed reality experiences on Quest 2!! (a virtual reality headset made by Facebook). Meta is also an easy way to connect and build communities with people like you!
How does Meta help us connect?
Meta has been released for multiple reasons like to entertain, game, work, exercise or to just simply explore augmented reality. But one of the biggest reasons Meta has been released is to connect and build communities! For example, take Joshua the skateboarder from Ghana.
Joshua Ganyobi Odamtten’s hard work was instrumental in getting a skateboarding community off the ground in Ghana. He set up whatsapp and facebook app Groups, along with an instagram page to connect with other local skateboarders. That’s where rooky_rider, founder of surfghana, discovered him. Now, together they are building the first skatepark in Ghana. All over the world, skateboarders like Joshua and Sandy use our technologies to build community and make the sport more open and inclusive.
