He is a half boy, half god, all hero. Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is about a typical 12 year old boy going to school, shooting hoops, skateboarding, the usual. Percy’s life gets a bit intriguing when he slays his pre algebra teacher, Mrs. Dodds, with a “pen”. Percy later finds out that the pen is a magical sword called Riptide, or in Greek, Anaklusmos. After going on a holiday with his Mum he discovers that he is a demigod, a person with half the blood of gods and half the blood of a human.Percy is the son of the Sea God, Poseidon. Grover reveals Percy’s new home, called Camp Half – Blood. This is a camp where all demigods and half bloods stay to keep safe from monsters such as Minotaurs, Gorgons. Percy tried to fit in, but everyone feared him. As he was the son of Poseidon, one of the “big three” he was more powerful and feared. Percy soon finds out that Zeus’ most Herculean weapon, the master bolt is stolen. On top of that, Percy is the top suspect! To get rid of this accusation, Percy goes on a treacherous quest to unmask the true criminal and stop a colossal war between the gods.
I enjoyed this book, it has a hilarious chain of events and is very suspenseful and hooked me in the second I started reading it. I also found the characters very engrossing and showed there different personalities. The fictitious tale begins in a world where Greek Mythology is a reality and monster roam the places of Earth. The author of the book, Rick Riordan talks about several greek myths and legends. There are also various foreshadows in the plot which make the book sort of like a mini “puzzle”. I recommend this book for people who like thrillers and mythical adventures. The only stumbling block in the book is it can get quite repetitive. Put that aside and I think this book has got to be right up there as one of the best books in the market. Finally, feel free to comment on which other books I should review and thank you for reading this article. Hope you enjoyed😁
